I have a traditional woodworking bench made of 4 inch thick oak. these aluminum bench dogs fit snugly into the 3/4 holes drilled into the bench. they are about 2 1/2 inches long and are solid aluminum and very sturdy. the spring on the side ensures that they do not slip deeper into the holes yet are easy to pull out of the bench..
